SAE Leadership Roundtable Series

The impact of external forces from technology to regulation on the vehicle were challenging in their own right. Now the complexity is compounded with the impact of COVID-19. Originally scheduled for the Leadership Summit at WCX, SAE is bringing the perspectives of 16 automotive executives as they grapple with these challenges in a COVID-19 world. You’ll hear in-depth discussions in three separate panels on June 4 and 9 about connectivity and its implications for vehicle safety, the need for upgradeable vehicle electronics, and technologies to deliver torque in electrified cars. Plus, learn how COVID-19 is impacting the mobility industry as It restarts and looks to the future.

Register for one or more of these no-charge webcasts as we bring the forward-thinking of the WCX Leadership Summit, safe and appropriately socially distanced, to your home office.

It's Alive. Gearing the Electrified Future.

On Demand

Transmission and driveline innovations are integral to the development of more fuel-efficient, lower-emitting, and customer-pleasing vehicles. New power-transmission solutions are helping to make hybrid and battery-electric propulsion mainstream across global mobility markets. Electrification has become a dominant theme in new planetary automatics and e-axles, with a variety of motor-position choices (from P1 to P4) offering engineers greater flexibility for 2wd, 4wd, and AWD development. Fully electric drive modules incorporating transmission, e-motor, and inverter, are driving new approaches to propulsion-system packaging, while the development of novel dual-clutch, continuously variable, and automated-manual types continues at a heightened pace. In “Gearing the Electrified Future,” top power-transmission experts discuss the challenges and opportunities of combining new and existing technologies to deliver torque to the drive wheels.

Continuing the Conversation: Meeting Consumer’s Need for Upgradeable Electronics Over the Life of the Automobile

On Demand

This roundtable of experts will continue the conversation started during the March SAE webcast with Chris Cook from the Mobile Electronics Association (MEA) addressing the issue of mastering the ability to keep consumer electronics up to date in the automobile. Consumers expect a seamless connection for whatever they carry into their cars. With the average lifespan of an automobile on the road today at 11.5 years, they also expect their car will be upgradeable for future technologies. Listen to the thought leaders of today pave the road toward fixing compatibility issues, envisioning a future in which all automobiles are fully technology-enabled.
